The Jethro Tull sequence is the standard studio track, but the rest - except for the Stones' Salt of the Earth - is really live. The Stones hosted the Rock and Roll Circus in December 1968, performing alongside an all-star lineup that also featured the Who, Yoko Ono, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull and the impromptu supergroup the Dirty Mac, comprising John Lennon, Keith Richards, Mitch Mitchell and Eric Clapton. Director Michael Lindsay-Hogg filmed the performance for a planned BBC special, though it never aired due to Brian Jones departure from the band and eventual death soon after the show marked his last public performance with the Stones. It wasnt until 1996 that Rock and Roll Circus was officially. The Rolling Stones Rock n' Roll Circus - May have been worth the price of admission just to see the 50yr old footage. The decline in Bryan was already becoming very noticeable, unfortunately so. The Stones were reportedly unhappy with their performance hence the long delay, and it isn't their finest moment performing Jumping Jack Flash and a variety of songs from their then-new Beggars Banquet album, Keith Richards is game, but Jagger's preening especially on Sympathy for the Devil is over the top, and guitarist Brian Jones looks dissolute
