Unknown Pleasures is the debut studio album by English rock band Joy Division, released on 15 June 1979 by Factory Records. The album was recorded and mixed over three successive weekends at Stockport's Strawberry Studios in April 1979, and was produced by Martin Hannett, who incorporated a number of unconventional production techniques into the group's sound. The cover artwork was designed by artist Peter Saville, using a data plot of signals from a radio pulsar. It is the only Joy Division album. Musically it carries on where Orchid-Stars Birth left off - having been persuaded to take the band a bit more uptempo for the 2nd album Faster, Pete started this the same time, finally finishing it a decade later. Pete Ardron of Orchid-Star releases his 10th solo album with guests on Nov 4th 2016. Call it PsybientPsychillPsydubEthno-chillWorld-fusion or whatever, this shows the usual signs of Petes main influences - psychedelic, classical from the turn of the 20th century, and world music, with a strong Indian influence running through much of it. Musically it carries on very much where Orchid-Stars Birth left off
