Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей Mark Knopfler's new album, 'Tracker,' features two songs written while touring with Bob Dylan. Henrik Hanson. For Mark Knopfler, this years 30th anniversary of Dire Straits Brothers in Arms - and its Number One hit, Money for Nothing - is bittersweet. In retrospect, the record marked the beginning of the end of the band. It reached a critical mass and an awful lot of people wanted to see us live, Knopfler recalls from his studio in London. It got much bigger on the live side of things. I wasnt altogether happy with that. Scaled smaller than 2012's double-album Privateering, Tracker also feels suitably subtle, easing its way into being instead of announcing itself with a thunder. Such understatement is typical of Mark Knopfler, particularly in the third act of his career. When he left Dire Straits behind, he also left behind any semblance of playing for the cheap seats in an arena, but Tracker feels quieter than his new millennial norm. Some of this is due to the undercurrent of reflection tugging at the record's momentum

Excellent recording, the mastering on this record is superb with very good dynamic range and sweet treble response. Cymbals sound a little compressed at times, but overall the sound gives you excellent spatial cues. My copy did have some scuffing on it, but this seems to be superficial as I didn't experience any problems with the sound quality. The sleeves aren't lined and as a result induce a lot of static, so cleaning these records before play isn't just a recommendation, its a must! If not cleaned, I'm sure there will be a lot of surface noise, pops and clicks. My copy is very quiet after cleaning on my Okki Nokki. In terms of the music.....how can anyone fault the venerable Mark Knopfler?! This album has everything that one expects from him; beautiful songs, excellent guitaring and above all an album that's been beautifully put together. While "Privateering" was a Knopfler album through and through, I find this album to resemble Dire Straits on a few tracks.

Sound is good. Sleeves aren't lined. Some scuffs. No CD or download code. Gatefold has lyrics.

Usual mediocre GZ vinyl pressing, with lots of surface noise. Too bad, because the recording, mixing and mastering are very good.

I concur to this. Lots of surface noise despite applying a few wet cleaning. The recording is excellent I have to say. I A/B compared with my US pressed CD album and the LP version sound with better clarity and well extended highs. But let down by poor pressing quality and poor quality inner sleeves which is very tight.

Lucabeer I suggest cleaning the record, I suspect you may be hearing the static induced by the sleeves. My copy is extremely quiet.
