CBC Music and Exclaim described the album as one of the year's most anticipated Canadian releases. On Scimitar, the album's opener, a pair of droning, detuned guitars provide the perfect launch pad for the soaring vocals to take off from, and though the riffs here feel, at times, Sunn0-like, the thunderous drums help the whole package feel propulsive rather than ponderous. Though singer and guitarist Steve Brooks would later go on to further refine this blend of doom's sonic palette and power pop's exuberance with Torche, Floor is like a proof-of-concept prototype, showing that there's no limit to just how heavy pop can be. Initially from Miami, Floor was formed in 1992 by Steve Brooks guitar, Anthony Vialon guitarbass and Betty Monteavaro drums.
