Album

Faces is the tenth studio album by the R&B band Earth, Wind & Fire released on October 14, 1980 on ARCColumbia Records. The album reached number 2 on the Billboard Top LPs chart, number 10 on the Billboard Top Soul albums chart and number 10 on the UK Pop Albums chart. Faces was certified Gold in the US by the RIAA. Faces was partly recorded in the Caribbean island of Montserrat and produced by EWF leader Maurice White. Artists such as Fred Wesley and Toto's Steve Lukather guested on the album. While this album admittedly had less memorable material and was more dependent on what had become production clichés and stock devices, it still landed plenty of hits on the charts. Album 1980 17 Songs. This eclectic and expansive double album kicks off with the skittering, gospel-tinged funk of Let Me Talk, powered by White's ever-present kalimba. Throughout, upbeat rhythms are fused with infectious horn riffs and melodic hooks, although the immense power of the groove is smartly tempered by soulful breathers like the wistful ballad You and the delicate orchestral fantasy Sailaway
