Much like Home, Vol. 4, Conor Oberst's collaboration with Spoon's Britt Daniel, One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels is a meeting of the minds between Oberst and his friends Neva Dinova. That band's singersongwriter, Jake Bellows, and Oberst got together in fall 2003 to collaborate on some songs, and though the results aren't quite as accomplished as either band's work on their own, the six songs here are pretty and entertaining enough to please both Bright Eyes and Neva Dinova fans. Bright Eyes - Happy Accident. Bright Eyes - Someone's Love. Bright Eyes - I Know You. Tripped by Bright Eyes & Neva Dinova Lyrics. Black Comedy Lyrics. Spring Cleaning Lyrics. About One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels. When this EP was originally released in 2004, it only contained the bottom six tracks listed here. The first four tracks as well as the original six were later included on a special 2010 reissue of the EP. One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels Q&A. Primary Artists Bright Eyes & Bright Eyes & Neva Dinova. Neva Dinova acquit themselves with Gram Parsons-y ballads, but the star, predictably, is Bright Eyes' boy genius Conor Oberst, who's so adept at shambling tunefulness that he can make even levelheaded skeptics want to sing alongwith his emoting about a comedy so dry and black it makes my stomach hurt. By the time this 2004 collaboration with Omaha band Neva Dinova was originally released, Oberst had been photographed kissing Winona Ryder and he assumed near-celebrity status as a result. Hed also begun veering away from the emotionally and musically intense, distraught stylings of his early songs towards a more folk- and country-inspired sound. One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels could well be seen as the turning point before he made the full transition. To quote Neva Dinovas opening track from One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels, I dont wanna say it, though I know that its true, something you cant get past, something I cant past : Jake Bellows, the lead singer of Dinova kind of sounds like Ryan Gosling on his Dead Mans Bones album, but I mean that in. a good way. Bright Eyes members provide the backing music for Neva Dinova, and vice versa. Conor Oberst even went as far as to write the closing track, Spring Cleaning for Neva Dinova and lets Jake Bellows take the reins. Oberst has noted that the initial recordings for these sessions back in 2004 were his favorite to participate in
